New Apple Data Shows iOS 7 Is Now Installed On 74 Percent Of iOS Devices

Further lending credence to the impressive adoption rate of iOS 7 is a new set of data coming straight from the horse’s mouth — or from the website, as it were, of the operating system’s developer itself.
In its App Store Distribution webpage , Apple has posted a pie chart representing the current distribution of major iOS versions among iOS devices as measured by the App Store during the 7-day period ended Dec. 1. The chart has iOS 7 adoption at 74 percent, iOS 6 at 22 percent, and earlier iOS versions at a combined 4 percent.
This closely corroborates a third-party report from yesterday, which quantifies iOS adoption at 74.1 percent for iOS 7 and 22.4 percent for iOS 6.
The report also suggests that the adoption of iOS 7, which was officially launched just last September, is likely to outpace that of iOS 6, which reached 83 percent nearly six months after the operating system’s release in September last year.
The adoption of iOS 7 makes for an even more interesting story when compared with the adoption of the latest version of Android, KitKat 4.4. According to figures from Google , KitKat 4.4 has been installed on a mere 1.1 percent of Android devices since its release late last October.
